Welcome to my blog. If this is your first time, we are in the same boat, it’s mine too. At the very heart of this blog is my desire to create a movement about prevention through nutrition because of the way health issues have made such a dramatic impact on my family’s lives and others I know. What in life affects us more in our day then how we feel? It guides our thoughts, our actions, and our ability to enjoy the simple things like a walk with our spouse, a game of tag with our children, a dinner out with friends.

My name is Tricia King. I am the mother of 2 wonderful boys (ages 10 and 2) and have been married to an amazing man hand-picked by God to walk by my side for the last 15 years. We have traveled back and forth across the country together to 11 different states and have just recently put down roots in the Poconos of Pennsylvania to be closer to family.

In that time, my husband and I have experienced the highest of highs, with the births of our children, one being an absolute miracle baby. We have seen the beauty of this country and the joy it has to offer. But we have also hit the lowest of lows, losing 4 babies to miscarriage, one that threatened my life. We’ve watched tragedy strike our family with health issues and felt the pain and fear that it brings.

And beyond our family, we saw a lot of sickness and disease from families we met during those years of travel, both young and old, illness does not discriminate.  All the while, it seemed completely out of anyone’s control. Or was it?

I put my faith in God to walk me through this life, and I know there are some things that are meant to be we cannot change. But I also believe God puts things and people in our path to enhance our lives and give us a fighting chance when there seems to be no hope. Enter the year 2014 and the day I began a new chapter in my life as a Health and Wellness Coach because of a total stranger who educated me on the power of prevention and everyday wellness through nutrition.

It transformed how I thought about our ability to be and stay healthy. I started working with a food-science company that is changing lives and has been for close to 30 years. Why? Because they have the first natural ingredient ever proven to work at the genetic level, turning bad genes off and good genes on. ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER. I will talk more about that later and the profound effect it’s had on our family.

The reason for its importance is evident in the title of my soon to be released book “Cancer on Monday, Dead on Tuesday, Home by the Weekend.” If you are on my site for the book that’s likely how you found this blog.  The discovery of this nutrition is partly why I now add author to my background and hopefully speaker someday soon.

After being passionate about helping others with their health for  close to 3 years, my own mother was diagnosed with cancer 9 months ago. And less than 24 hours later, she was dead for 45 minutes from what the hospital classified as a “sudden cardiac death,” paramedics shocking her heart  seven times to restart it. Her prognosis was grim to begin with and even with a miraculous recovery, she still had cancer. Her decision would be to treat it naturally through nutrition because of what I now knew. Our family is not unique in dealing with a health crisis. Every day families are struck by tragedy with a loved one lost from disease or an outlook that seems hopeless. Life can deal us some very difficult hands and turn our worlds upside down.

So today I begin a  blog, one that will intertwine my passion for health, along with the journey in creating the book. I will share lessons learned about following God’s path for our lives and the amazing results that can have, even when difficult. I also want to inspire a new discussion, one that doesn’t lead with illness or disease but conversation rejoicing in good health, vitality, and quality of life memories. There is a way for that to happen. PREVENTION. Three years ago I didn’t realize it was possible, but I now have a whole new outlook on what we can do to take control of our health and believe everyone in this world deserves a chance to know it too. There is hope for sickness, disease and the dreaded thought of cancer. My mother is living proof.
